IN VITRO DATA
Geissospermum vellosi inhibits reverse transcriptasi, through a particular action, that is, fixing itself over genoma and stopping inverse transcriptasi action (Beljans K.I. 1993b; Beljans K.I. 1995a). Gv modulates TNF- a and IL-6 production (Damais 1993). Gv effectiveness and safe have been contested by Agence Nationale de Recherche Sur la Sida (ANRS), In France, that on June, 1994, made some in vitro tests with not effective and toxic results (Perez 1994). A following in vitro test made by Walter Reed Hospital of Rockville, USA has differently showed that Gv inhibits, in vitro, viral stubs resistant to AZT with safe dosages (Mayers 1994, Avicenne 1995).
