In what follow we report only conclusions of book authors and a bibliography that may be used to study in depth the argument.
A complete treatment of Allium Sativum use from persons with HIV and AIDS has been reported in the above-mentioned book.

Considerations:

• Allium sativum is one of the most important remedies out of a very large number of ethnomedical traditions and its extracts are amongst the most sold phytotherapic products on european markets, mainly employed as hypolipidaemics, antihypertensives, thromocytic antiaggregants and antimicrobials.
• Its antibacterial, antimycotic and antiprotozoal action makes it of easy and invaluable usefulness for various opportunistic pathological situations, going along with HIV infection: often in such pathologies it represents the first choice treatment.
• The particular plant’s phytochemistry and the possibility of inactivation by gastric juices, indicate the need of gastric-resistant tablets administration, in the case it had to be employed for the treatment of intestinal infections (eg.: Cryptosporidium parvum).
• Some recent Soviet in vitro researches have highlighted an anti-HIV action by ajoene, a compound present in the plant polar fraction.
• Plant tolerability is quite optimal: cases of dietary intolerance and allergy are reported and an extension of coagulation parameters in persons taking anticoagulants.
