During XI International Conference (Vancouver, 5-6 July) Community Forum (CF) has been hold, where 500 persons participated among non government organizations delegate, activists and persons who live with HIV and AIDS, coming from the five continents.
CF objectives:
To give a general orientation to CF participating of XI AIDS
International Conference; to give to PlwHA and to Associations chance
to strategic planning; to create development opportunity; to promote
international networking chance. CF examined human rights problem,
competence realization, official therapies (OT), unconventional
therapies (UT), social research and organizational development of
community.
Some considerations about CF:
90% of PlwHA can't use proper treatments, so most of research
efforts, should be for developing countries (DC).
An increase in drugs prize is previewed , especially for combined therapies respect to mono-therapies and this will weigh PlwHA health.
Some CF advices:
To start nutritional program, to formulate National Politics to
give food with optimal nutritive value to PlwHA; to guarantee proper
information diffusion; to give needed found. To create conditions to
be driven to an optimal therapeutic model, to maintain for next
years. To make more easy fundamental elements supply for
opportunistic infections treatments in developing countries, to
realize diagnosis centers, tretament and follow-up in countries
where, actually, they lack.
About OT, to open a dialogue with other patients groups, to create consents about equality of health cure and about priority to assign to founds destination; to favour more economics treatments inquiry. A collaboration from Governments has been asked with NGO and PlwHA nets, in order to have a more quick and practicable access to new tretments, a renewed commitment for Hiv prevention and medical research; associations should review periodically their priority about founds.
About UT, to sustain clinic trials to find more effective and economic substances, with more simple production and complementary therapies, to promote and favorite strategies for AIDS treatments which be proper and sustainable in DC, using local resources.
